Currencies now available to LCU members include the Polish Zloty, the Croatian Kuna & the Sri Lankan Rupee

Polish Zloty

Since joining the European Union, Poland has opened up to tourism and is now established as an interesting (and relatively inexpensive) destination.

Poland still uses its own currency, the Polish Zloty, rather than the Euro. Thanks to our partnership with Travelex, you can now order Zlotys from Laboratories Credit Union. Credit and travel money cards are widely accepted in Poland, but it is a good idea to also take some Zloty cash with you for small purchases such as public transport fares, coffees and snacks.

50, 100 and 200 Zloty notes are normally held in stock (as a rough guide, one Australian Dollar equates to approximately 2.5 Zlotys), and orders are usually delivered within 2-3 business days.

Croation Kuna

With miles of sandy beaches, spectacular coastline and picturesque towns, Croatia is one of the new tourism hotspots.

Despite being a member of the European Union, Croatia uses its own currency, the Croatian Kuna.  Thanks to our partnership with Travelex, you can now order Kuna from Laboratories Credit Union.

50, 100 and 200 Kuna notes are normally held in stock (as a rough guide, one Australian Dollar equates to approximately 4 Kuna), and orders are usually delivered within 2-3 business days.

Note that credit and travel money cardsare not universally accepted in Croatia - hotels and larger stores are generally fine, but less so at restaurants, local accommodation and medical centres.  So by taking some Kuna cash with you, you’ll be all set to enjoy the trip of a lifetime.

Sir Lankan Rupee

A wealth of tourist attractions, regular direct flights from Australia, and a large expatriate population make Sri Lanka a popular destination for Australian travellers.

Laboratories Credit Union has now added Sri Lankan Rupees to the list of foreign currencies you can obtain from us. Supplied in partnership with Travelex, Rupees are available in 500, 1000, 2000 and 5000 denominations ($1 is worth approximately 110 Rupees), and orders are usually delivered within 2-3 business days.

Note that travellers to Sri Lanka (both Sri Lankan citizens and non-citizens) are only permitted to import/export 20,000 Rupees; there are no restrictions on foreign currencies (with the exception of Indian and Pakistani Rupees, which are prohibited).*

Credit and travel money cards are not universally accepted in Sri Lanka, although you can normally use your cards to obtain Rupees at Colombo airport, exchange bureaux, banks or local ATMs (check with us first to ensure your card will work).
